
cttennis.com is the official Web site for The Connecticut Grand Prix Tennis Circuit. The circuit consists of eight tennis tournaments held statewide between May and October each year. Players of all ages and abilities compete in singles and doubles categories such as Men's Open Singles, Women's Open Singles, Men's Intermediate Singles, Men's 45 and over Singles, Men's Open Doubles, Women's Open Doubles, Men's Intermediate Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
Players who compete earn points if they reach the semifinals or further in any given category. The top eight singles players and doubles teams in the point standings at the end of the season are invited to the year end Master's Tournament at Pinewoods Racquet Club in Torrington.
Many of the best tennis facilities in the state are used for the circuit including Yale University in New Haven, Wesleyan University in Middletown, Miss Porter's School in Farmington and Cheshire Academy. Please click here for complete schedule.
The circuit was founded in 1994 by Todd Nicholson of The Player's Edge Tennis Association LLC, which owns and operates The Connecticut Grand Prix Tennis Circuit and cttennis.com. Nicholson grew up in Southbury, CT and has been an active player and promoter of the game. He has been an active sports marketing consultant to the major pro tennis events in New England including The Pilot Pen Tournament in New Haven & The Hartford Foxforce (World Team Tennis). He also served as Tournament Chairman of The Nantucket Tennis Classic from 1996-1998.
Tennis Against Breast Cancer, Inc. is the official charity of The Connecticut Grand Prix Tennis Circuit. This nonprofit organization was founded in 1992 by Maureen Rankine. It is dedicated not only to increasing awareness of the fight against breast cancer, but to raising funds for appropriate organizations equally committed to finding a cure. In 1994 Compaq Computer Corporation helped Todd Nicholson launch the Compaq Connecticut Grand Prix Tennis Circuit by becoming the founding corporate sponsor.
